Rogerian therapy
Client-centered therapy Humanistic psychology A form of psychoanalysis in which a therapist with an 'unconditioned positive regard' for the client attempts to ↓ negative aspects of overdependence on others, and ↑ self-reliance. See Humanistic psychology. Cf Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy.

Rogerian therapy grew from this idea, exploring the idea of self-value and teaching people to take charge of their lives.
Rogerian therapy is fundamentally non-directive, so the therapist does not generally make suggestions or problem solve with the client.
Indeed, some psychotherapies, such as Rogerian therapy, explicitly train gentle eyes and face, sympathizing, and loose reinforcement of behavior (called "unconditional positive regard").
