Isolating the blood supply on the middle colic vessel makes the two vascular right colic and ileocolic territories dependent on it, rendering the blood supply in the most distant ileocolic territory tenuous.
The superior mesenteric artery gave inferior pancreaticoduodenal, ileocolic, right colic and ileal and jejunal branches.
It gives off inferior pancreatico-duodenal, middle colic, right colic, ileocolic, jejunal and ileal branches.
The right colic artery, right branch of the cranial mesenteric artery, after a short way irrigates the right colon and anastomises with the ileocecocolic artery.
Yet, the caudal mesenteric artery, after arising from the abdominal aorta ventral face, immediately cranial to the external iliac arteries emission, divides into two branches, cranial rectal artery that sends branches to the large intestine terminal portion, and the right colic artery, which in its cranial path through the descending colon wall anastomises with the descending branch of the middle colic artery (Fig.
Branching from the right side of the main trunk of the superior mesenteric artery are three vessels--the middle colic, right colic and ileocolic arteries--which supply the terminal ileum, caecum, ascending colon and right two thirds of transverse colon.
The right branch anastomoses with the right colic artery while the left branch anastomoses with left colic artery, which is a branch of the inferior mesenteric artery.
Branching from the right side of the main trunk of the superior mesenteric artery are three vessels- the middle colic (MCA), right colic (RCA) and ileocolic arteries--which supply the terminal ileum, caecum, ascending colon and right two thirds of transverse colon.
