resorcinol /re·sor·ci·nol/ (rĕ-zor´sĭ-nol) a bactericidal, fungicidal, keratolytic, exfoliative, and antipruritic agent, used especially as a topical keratolytic in the treatment of acne and other dermatoses.

A white crystalline compound used primarily as an antiseptic in skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema, but also used in the treatment of nausea, asthma, whooping cough, and diarrhea.
