Sources at JPMC on condition of anonymity informed that there are 2600 posts in the hospital, including professors, assistant professors, resident medical officers, doctor, paramedics, nurses, administrative staff and other categories, and out of them 800 have been lying vacant for last few years.
We have established Clinical Research Fund to provide financial assistance to Resident Medical Officers, Senior Registrars and Assistant Professor level faculty members to help and facilitate to undertake research.
The CSD ensures that in accordance with the Prison Rules (Cap 234A), necessary and appropriate basic medical care is provided by resident Medical Officers from the Department of Health (DH) and correctional staff with nursing qualifications.

As for professional capacities of resident medical officers in different hospitals to handle newborn with asphyxia and other common health conditions (infections) contributory to their deaths, he said these needed to be significantly improved.
There had also been an increase in the number of junior doctors at Albany Health Campus with eight resident medical officers, six interns and nine registrars, and the facility is expanding its telehealth service to reduce the number of patients needing to travel out of the region.
