1. the act of making straight, pure, or correct.
2. redistillation of a liquid to purify it.

1 the conversion of alternating current into pulsating direct current.
2 a step in echo signal processing in a pulse-echo ultrasound instrument in which radiofrequency signals, which oscillate both above and below zero volts, are converted.
