vitronectin /vit·ro·nec·tin/ (vit?ro-nek´tin) an adhesive glycoprotein whose many functions include regulation of the coagulation, fibrinolytic, and complement cascades, also playing a role in hemostasis, wound healing, tissue remodeling, and cancer, and promoting adhesion, spreading, and migration of cells. It has been shown to be identical to S protein, which was identified as a complement inhibitor acting to prevent insertion of the membrane attack complex into the membrane.
vitronectin
an adhesive protein in plasma. Called also S-protein.
