Q. I doubt the only reason could be that she is diabetic ….. What may be the other reasons? My sweet wife is in her 1st trimester and the doctor has described it as a very high risk pregnancy, I don’t understand why it is being called a high risk pregnancy…I doubt the only reason could be that she is diabetic ….. A. Risk factors for a high-risk pregnancy can include:

- Young or old maternal age
- Being overweight or underweight
- Having had problems in previous pregnancies
- Pre-existing health conditions, such as high blood pressure, anemia, diabetes, or HIV
