Examples of reasonable accommodations include things such as a screen magnifier for a person with a visual impairment, a regularly scheduled lunch hour for a person with diabetes, or flex time for a person who needs to attend required medical appointments.
Under the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), more individuals will likely be deemed disabled and will qualify for reasonable accommodations and protections from alleged discrimination.
It makes clear, however, that employers must make reasonable accommodations that enable individuals with disabilities to meet performance and conduct standards.
