a unit of absorbed dose of ionizing radiation equal to one thousandth (10-3) of a rad. See also rad.

one thousandth (10−3) of a rad.

n one-thousandth of a rad. Normal background radiation in this country varies from about 50 to 200 mr per year, depending on geographic location.
