a unit of absorbed dose of ionizing radiation equal to one thousandth (10^-3) of a rad. See also rad.

n one-thousandth of a rad. Normal background radiation in this country varies from about 50 to 200 mr per year, depending on geographic location.

a non-SI unit of dosage of absorbed radiation, 10⁻³ rad; abbreviated mrad. Now replaced by gray.
