cinchonism /cin·cho·nism/ (-nizm) toxicity due to cinchona alkaloid overdosage; symptoms are tinnitus and slight deafness, photophobia and other visual disturbances, mental dullness, depression, confusion, headache, and nausea. cinchonism [sin′kōniz′əm] a condition resulting from excessive ingestion of cinchona bark or its alkaloid derivatives (quinine or quinidine).
