In Quantum Computation, scientists are trying to harness the peculiar counter-intuitive quantum mechanical laws of nature for faster, smaller and powerful computers.
Bohm and Hiley are responding particularly to recent experimental findings that quantum mechanical laws govern certain macroscopic phenomena--for example, the quantized Hall effect, for which the 1985 Nobel Prize was given.
