prolactinoma /pro·lac·ti·no·ma/ (-lak″tĭ-no´mah) a pituitary adenoma that secretes prolactin.
prolactinoma (prōˈ·lak·t·nōˑ·m),
n a noncancerous tumor of the pituitary gland, most often in women, that leads to excess production of prolactin, the hormone responsible for modulating lactation. Also called
secreting adenoma.

Endocrinology A pituitary tumor more common in Pts < age 40 characterized by an excess secretion of prolactin–tumor size correlates with the prolactin level; smaller tumors, microprolactinomas, are more common in ♀; macroprolactinomas are more common in ♂ and associated with sexual dysfunction; women may become symptomatic while on OCs; menses may stop when OCs are discontinued; prolactinomas may grow during pregnancy and be diagnosed postdelivery.
