A reaction based on passive transfer of allergic sensitivity in which serum from an allergic individual is injected into cutaneous sites on a normal individual and the injected sites are then exposed to antigens to which the donor is allergic; the cutaneous sites show a characteristic wheal-and-flare reaction.
