imperforate [impur′fərit] Etymology: L, im, not, perforare, to pierce lacking a normal opening in a body organ or passageway. An infant may be born with an imperforate anus. Compare perforate. imperforate (imˈ·purˑ·f adj absence of a typical opening in an organ or passageway of the body, such as the hymen or anus. imperforate not open; abnormally closed.
