small, semisolid, intensely itching blisters that may appear on the abdomen of a pregnant woman and spread peripherally. They begin in the third trimester and resolve spontaneously after delivery.

toxic erythema of pregnancy

A dermopathy that affects about 1:200 pregnancies, which presents as an intensely pruritic wave of papules and urticarial plaques, with scattered vesicles, over the lateral abdominal wall during the last few weeks of pregnancy, often extending to the trunk and limbs whilst sparing the umbilical region. The lesion resolves with delivery or shortly thereafter.

With that said, the two most prominent dermatoses of pregnancy are pruriticurticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy, a condition now known under the umbrella term polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, and pemphigoid gestationis, previously called herpes gestationis.
Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy occurs in about 1 in 300 pregnancies and is generally associated with multiple gestations and increased maternal weight gain.
