polyestradiol phosphate /poly·es·tra·di·ol phos·phate/ (-es″trah-di´ol) a polymer of estradiol phosphate having estrogenic activity similar to that of estradiol; used in the palliative therapy of prostatic carcinoma.

an antineoplastic estrogen compound.
indications It is not available in the United States but is prescribed elsewhere as palliative therapy for advanced inoperable prostate cancer.
contraindications Male breast cancer, estrogen-dependent neoplasia, thrombophlebitis, pregnancy, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use.
adverse effects Among the more serious adverse effects are loss of libido, impotence, gynecomastia, fluid retention and edema, and, rarely, cholestatic jaundice.
