Cadila Pharmaceuticals has recently emerged on the world map with the development of Polycap - a novel and world's first drug combination for primary prevention of cardiovascular heart disease (CHD).
The concept is back in favour with an Indian generic manufacturer making the running (The Indian Polycap Study, Lancet 2009; 373: 1341-1352).
This article in the Lancet comes from the India Polycap study, which examined the effects of the polypill--a combined statin, aspirin and folic acid with three blood pressure-lowering drugs (ramipril, atenolol and hydrochlorothiazide)--in middle-aged people without known cardiovascular disease.
