platform,
a collective term for computer hardware and software components of a particular system.

platform [plat´form]
a flat horizontal surface higher than the level of the areas around it.
force platform a small platform that measures variations in downward force between different points on its surface, for assessing stability of stance and posture as a person stands on it. Called also force plate.

It's basic old school retro platforming with a bit of spit and polish, level based gaming where you have to jump, fight and float through the levels and defeating the baddies as you go.
and Gardening Guide provide traditional platforming and green-fingered experiences on the same Nintendo system.
The game is still extremely playable and the speedy platforming antics never get boring.
