rosin /ro·sin/ (roz´in) a solid resin obtained from species of Pinus; it is used in preparation of ointments and plasters and in many products such as chewing gum, polishes, and varnishes, but is a common cause of contact allergy.
rosin [roz′in] a solid oleo resin produced by steam distillation of balsam from various species of pine trees. After extraction of turpentine in the process, the rosin remains as an amber mass.
