Burner Syndrome
(redirected from Pinch-Stretch Brachial Plexus Neuropraxia)

    0.01 sec.
burner syndrome,
a condition of burning pain, especially in the upper extremities, and sometimes accompanied by shoulder girdle weakness. It may be experienced during contact sports, such as football, as a result of a blow to the head or shoulder. It is attributed to an upper trunk neuropathy of the brachial plexus.

Burner Syndrome
A typically transient traction neurapraxia of younger athletes caused by direct cervical spine trauma—common in football—occurring in younger athletes and which may occur with spear tackling and may be accompanied by shoulder depression and lateral neck deviation away from the side of injury
Management Cowboy collar to prevent extreme hyperextension and lateral bending of the cervical spine, neck and shoulder exercise; athletes may return to collision activities when asymptomatic—normal strength, neurologically normal, and full range of painless cervical motion
