Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR)
a reference book published yearly that contains drug monographs and an illustrated section for drug identification; it is also available on CD-ROM.

Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR),
n a comprehensive reference book detailing the composition and accepted applications of pharmaceuticals from major manufacturers. A supplemental edition, which covers the effective use of herbal and botanical products, is available, as well as online subscription and updated CD-ROM versions.

Words such as tablet, capsule, solution, elixir and cream are not part of the trade name of a drug and should not be capitalized for use The standard drug reference is the Physicians' Desk Reference (published annually) and well known as the PDR.
In a first of its kind effort, the Physicians' Desk Reference included a PPA informational insert in the front of the 2006 publication that is sent to more than 500,000 doctors.
Eventually the software could be used with other online resources such as the Physicians' Desk Reference and even internal documents from pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
