phagosome /phago·some/ (fag´o-sōm) a membrane-bound vesicle in a phagocyte containing the phagocytized material.
phagosome [fag′əsōm] a membrane-bound cytoplasmic vesicle within the phagocyte that engulfs it. The vesicle contains phagocytized materials and may fuse with a lysosome, forming a phagolysosome within which the lysosome digests the phagocytized material.
