Perfusion lung scan
A scan that shows the pattern of blood flow in the lungs.

perfusion lung scan,
a radiographic examination of the lungs and their function performed after an IV injection of a radioactive material. It is performed to detect areas of lung perfusion as an aid in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. The procedure is usually done in conjunction with a ventilation scan, in which the patient inhales radioactive material and the lung is scanned to detect lung areas receiving ventilation. Also called perfusion scan.
