exenteration /ex·en·ter·a·tion/ (ek-sen″ter-a´shun) 1. surgical removal of the inner organs; evisceration. 2. in ophthalmology, removal of the entire contents of the orbit. pelvic exenteration excision of the organs and adjacent structures of the pelvis. Pelvic exenteration Extensive surgery to remove the uterus, ovaries, pelvic lymph nodes, part or all of the vagina, and the bladder, rectum, and/or part of the colon.
