Pel-Ebstein fever [pel′ eb′stēn] Etymology: Pieter K. Pel, Dutch physician, 1852-1919; Wilhelm Ebstein, German physician, 1836-1912 a fever recurring in cycles of several days or weeks, characteristic of Hodgkin's disease or other malignant lymphoma. Also called Murchison fever. Pel-Ebstein fever [pel´ eb´stīn] a cyclic fever occasionally seen in hodgkin's disease and other diseases, characterized by irregular episodes of fever of several days' duration.
