Etymology: Karl Pearson, English mathematician, 1857-1936
(in statistics) a statistical test of the relationship between two variables measured in interval or ratio scales. Correlations computed fall between +1.00 and -1.00. The closer to 1 (positive or negative), the higher the correlation.
