a urinary bladder with widening of the inferior section, seen in conditions such as pelvic lipomatosis, perivesical hematoma or urinoma, and lymphoma or lymphocyst. Teardrop Bladder A descriptive term for a distended urinary bladder that is lifted out of the pelvis by an array of extravesical processes—e.g., haematoma, abscess, urinoma, hypertrophy of the iliopsoas muscle, lymphoma, tumour, fibrosis, bilateral iliac aneurysms, occlusion of the vena cava and pelvic lipomatosis; the external pressure narrows the bladder neck into an attenuated ‘stem,’ while a broad base at the bladder’s apex imparts a piriform configuration by excretory urography Aetiology Trauma, pelvic lipomatosis, inferior vena cava occlusion, psoas muscle hypertrophy, rarely, pelvic lymphadenopathy Diagnosis Ultrasonography, CT, MRI Want to thank TFD for its existence?
