Etymology: Gk, para + sympathein, to feel with, mimesis, imitation
1  adj, pertaining to a substance producing effects similar to those caused by stimulation of a parasympathetic nerve.
2  n, an agent whose effects mimic those resulting from stimulation of parasympathetic nerves, especially those produced by acetylcholine. Also called cholinergic.
