They belong to the Paramyxoviridae family, subfamily Paramyxovirinae, and are classified into 4 serotypes.
Phylogenetic analysis was used to compare the sequence of the N ORF of NV-B to the sequences of the N ORFs from other members of the subfamily Paramyxovirinae.
[FIGURE 2 OMITTED] Phylogenetic analysis using parsimony method (24) and different N sequences of viruses of the Paramyxovirinae subfamily confirmed that the Cambodian isolates and the Malaysian NiV isolates were significantly similar and that the Cambodian strains probably belong to the NiV species (Figure 2).
