Etymology: Gk, palin + genesis, origin
1 the regeneration of a lost part.
2 the hereditary transmission of ancestral structural characteristics, especially abnormalities, in successive generations. Also called paleogenesis. Compare cenogenesis. palingenetic, palingenic, adj.
