South American plant genus in the family Rubiaceae; contain fluoroacetate, a cause of myocardial damage and sudden death; includes P. aeneofusca, P. grandiflora, P. juruana, P. marcgravii, cafezinho, cafe bravo, erva cafe, erva de rato, roxa, roxinha, roxona, vick.
