oxycodone /oxy·co·done/ (-ko´dōn) an opioid analgesic derived from morphine; used in the form of the hydrochloride and terephthalate salts.

oxycodone [ok″se-ko´dōn]
an opioid analgesic derived from morphine; used in the form of the hydrochloride and terephthalate salts, administered orally or rectally.

n brand name: Roxicodone; OxyIR; OxyContin;
drug class: synthetic opioid analgesic (Controlled Substance Schedule II);
action: attaches to opiate receptors in the central nervous system;
uses: moderate to severe pain, normally used in combination with aspirin or acetaminophen, the opioid found in Percodan, Percocet, and Tylox. It is an easily abused substance. See also Percocet and Percodan.

Noninvasive pharmacologic prescription pain management includes administration of drugs such as analgesics (narcotic pain medicine) such as Oxycotin, Morphine, Roxicodone, and Percocet, muscle relaxants to treat muscle spasms, non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, antidepressants, anticonvulsants to treat nerve pain, and narcotic medications for acute and long term intractable pain; a severe, constant pain that is not curable by any known means.
For example, Oxycotin and Viagra, claimed by some to be widely used, were not found at all.
