Ostertagia a genus of worms in the family Trichostrongylidae. They are found in the abomasum, rarely the intestine, of ruminants, are thin and brown and called brown stomach worms. They cause ostertagiasis. Includes O. bisonis (cattle, wild ruminants), O. circumcincta (goats, sheep), O. crimensis syn. O. leptospicularis, O. hamata (springbok), O. leptospicularis (cervid deer, cattle), O. lyrata, syn. Skrjabinagia lyrata, Grosspiculagia lyrata (cattle), O. orloffi (Barbary sheep, cattle, deer), O. ostertagi (cattle, goats, rarely sheep, horses), O. podjapolskyi, syn.
