Most amusing mistake in racing reference book: The World Encyclopedia of Horse Racing led virtually throughout the year for mention of Citation's ocelot (nocturnal mammal) rather than osselet (arthritic condition), but was finally outrun by the Daily Telegraph's A-Z of Almost Everything, which informs the reader that the 1825 1,000 Guineas winner was ridden by W Alkover.
