Oscillatoria

genus of benthic (bottom-dwelling) cyanobacteria or plankton (blue-green algae) occurring in blooms in fresh water; toxins include anatoxins and microcystin; causes hepatic necrosis, sudden death, photosensitization. Includes O. aghardii.
