orf (orf) a contagious pustular viral dermatitis of sheep, communicable to humans.
orf
Etymology: AS
a contagious viral skin disease acquired from infected sheep and goats, characterized by painless vesicles that may progress to red, weeping nodules and finally to crusting and healing. Fingers, hands, wrist, and face are common sites. Treatment is not necessary because the condition is self-limited, and active infection results in immunity. Also called contagious pustular dermatitis.
