Oodinium a protozoan parasite of fish affecting the skin and the gills. Called also Piscinoodinium, Amyloodinium, velvet disease. Oodinium limneticum causes a dermatitis in fish which gives them a varnished appearance. It may kill the fish within a few days. Oodinium pillularis a skin parasite of fish, tadpoles, axolotls and newts; causes a greenish appearance to the skin and kills by blocking the gills. How to thank TFD for its existence?
