Omsk hemorrhagic fever (OHF)
[ômsk] an acute infection seen in regions of the former U.S.S.R., caused by a flavovirus transmitted by the bite of an infected tick or by handling infected muskrats. It is characterized by fever, headache, epistaxis, GI and uterine bleeding, and other hemorrhagic manifestations. Treatment is supportive; recovery usually occurs.
