Occupational Safety and Health Administration

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
the United States government agency that administers the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. This act of the United States Congress established minimum health and safety standards for workers and provides for the inspection of places of employment and the penalizing of employers who do not provide conditions that meet the established standards. As the person most knowledgeable about federal and state safety requirements, he or she should be consulted whenever operating procedures are developed or revised to ensure compliance with the law.
