BAX
BAXA gene located on chromosome 19q13.3-q13.4, which encodes Bax, which belongs to the BCL2 family of proteins with which it forms a heterodimer, together acting as anti- or pro-apoptosis regulators, depending on whether Bax or Bcl-2 is greater. BAX expression is regulated by p53, the tumour suppressor, and is involved in p53-mediated apoptosis.
Bax
A 21-kD protein encoded by BAX, located on chromosome 19q13.3-q13.4, which has significant homology with Bcl-2, the apoptosis repressor, with which it forms a heterodimer. Overexpression of Bax compared to Bcl-2 signifies apoptosis.
