nitrofurazone /ni·tro·fu·ra·zone/ (-fūr´ah-zōn) an antibacterial effective against a wide variety of gram-negative and gram-positive organisms; used topically as a local antiinfective.
nitrofurazone [-fyo̅o̅′rəzōn] a topical antibacterial. indications It is prescribed in the prophylaxis and treatment of infections in second- and third-degree burns and of the skin and mucous membranes. contraindication Known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. adverse effects Among the most serious adverse effects are severe allergic reactions and superinfections. nitrofurazone [ni″tro-fu´rah-zōn] an antibacterial agent effective against a wide variety of organisms, used as a topical antiinfective agent for skin lesions including wounds, burns, skin infections, and ulcers and to aid healing and prevent infection of skin grafts and other kinds of infections.
nitrofurazone a nitrofuran derivative antibiotic used mostly for topical application, and orally for treatment of coccidiosis in poultry and in swine dysentery.
