Led by Daniela Schiller, a post-doctoral fellow in NYU's Department of Psychology and its Center for Neural Science, the researchers wanted to explore the process of first impression formation.
The findings of the study, led by researchers at New York University's Center for Neural Science and the Baylor College of Medicine, may enhance scientific and medical understanding of disorders such as autism, which affects about one in 150 children in the United States, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In Principles of Neural Science, it's written that sensory organization, which provides us with the ability to interpret information about our body and environment from our sense receptors, occurs in the development of human beings before motor organization, or the ability to utilize the skeletal system effectively in a goal-directed manner.
