The likelihood that a positive test result indicates disease or that a negative test result excludes disease.

predictive value
a measure used by clinicians to interpret diagnostic test results. See also sensitivity, specificity.

positive predictive value
the probability that a patient with a positive test result really does have the condition for which the test was conducted.
negative predictive value
the probability that a patient with a negative test result really is free of the condition for which the test was conducted.

predictive value

They found that response of the tumour to treatment with PET-CT had a sensitivity (rate of true positives) of 83 percent, specificity (rate of true negatives) of 54 percent, positive predictive value (probability that patients who test positive have the disease) of 31 percent and negative predictive value (probability that patients who test negative do not have the disease) of 92 percent.
The Cellvizio images were sent to a different physician for a blinded analysis, who generated 90% specificity and 96% negative predictive value when viewing the image sequences.
