National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI),
an institute of the National Institutes of Health whose mission is to provide leadership for a national program in diseases of the heart, blood vessels, lungs, and blood, as well as blood resources and sleep disorders. It also has administrative responsibility for the NIH Women's Health Initiative.
