Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate; a coenzyme occurring in most living cells and utilized similarly to NAD but interacting with different metabolites.

nicotinamide [nik″o-tin´ah-mīd]
nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide (NAD) a coenzyme that is involved in many biochemical oxidation-reduction reactions. The symbols for the oxidized and reduced forms are NAD and NADH.
nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) a coenzyme similar to nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide but involved in fewer reactions. The symbols for the oxidized and reduced forms are NADP and NADPH.
