1. a diseased condition or state.
2. the incidence or prevalence of a disease or of all diseases in a population.

Etymology: L, morbidus, diseased
1 an illness or an abnormal condition or quality.
2 (in statistics) the rate at which an illness or abnormality occurs, calculated by dividing the number of people who are affected within a group by the entire number of people in that group.
3 the rate at which an illness occurs in a particular area or population.

morbidity,
n the state of being diseased. Can be used as an outcome measure such as number of decayed, missing, and filled teeth.

morbidity
the condition of being diseased.

proportional morbidity
the proportion of all of the diseased animals in the population that have the particular disease under discussion.
morbidity rate
the ratio of diseased to healthy animals in the population. The ratio is said to be standardized when it is expressed as a proportion of the expected rate compared with a standard group. It is also expressed as a proportional rate when it is stated as a proportion of all of the cases of illness due to all causes in the group.
