a delayed hypersensitivity test for cutaneous leishmaniasis; a positive test when granulomatous induration exceeds 5 minutes after 2-3 days at the intradermal injection site of a suspension of leishmanias in phenol.

Montenegro test

[mon′tənā′grō]
a test used in the diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis, in which killed Leishmania antigens are injected intradermally. A positive reaction is indicated by the appearance of a palpable nodule in 48 to 72 hours. Also called leishmanin test.
