The simplest form of sugar. Monosaccharides are classified by the number of carbon atoms in the molecule. They may thus be trioses, tetroses, pentoses, hexoses, etc. The commonest monosaccharide in the body is GLUCOSE, which is a hexose, with six carbons.monosaccharide
