Regulatory clearances and divestitures In order to secure regulatory approval for the merger in Europe, SmithKline Beecham has undertaken to the European Commission to out-license in the European Economic Area ("EEA") its anti-emetic product Kytril, its anti- viral product Famvir and (in Spain only) its antibiotic product Monocid.
In addition, Monocid (cefonicid sodium), a cephalosporin antibiotic, will be out-licensed in Spain, where its sales in 1999 were 11 million pounds.
The brands include three antibiotics: Neoduplamox, a broad spectrum penicillin, also known as Augmentin, and two injectable antibiotics, Clavucar and Monocid.
