mesoridazine /meso·rid·a·zine/ (mes″o-rid´ah-zēn) a phenothiazineantipsychotic, used as the besylate salt.

a phenothiazine antipsychotic.
indication It is prescribed in the treatment of schizophrenia.
contraindications Parkinson's disease, concurrent administration of central nervous system depressants, liver or renal dysfunction, severe hypotension, or known hypersensitivity to this drug or to other phenothiazine medications prohibits its use.
adverse effects Among the more serious adverse effects are prolongation of the QT interval (increases risk of torsades de pointes arrhythmia), hypotension, liver toxicity, a variety of extrapyramidal reactions, persistent tardive dyskinesia, blood dyscrasias, and hypersensitivity reactions.
